Start with your studio’s booking instructions, then pack your clothing, any required socks, water and a layer for after class. Studios differ, so check whether you need to bring a mat, towel or other equipment before buying or carrying extras.

Check the booking message first

Look for the arrival time, address, entry instructions and what the studio asks you to wear or bring. Save the details somewhere you can find them without searching through your inbox at the door. If the message does not answer a question, ask the studio.

Your class-bag checklist

  • Your chosen outfit: try it on beforehand and check that you are comfortable reaching, bending and sitting in it.
  • Socks, if required: follow the studio’s policy, including whether it specifies grip socks.
  • Water: bring a bottle if you want water with you, and check whether refills are available.
  • A towel or mat, if requested: confirm what the studio provides.
  • An extra layer: choose something suitable for your journey and the weather.
  • Everyday essentials: bring the keys, transport card or phone you need, and check the studio’s storage arrangements.

Choose clothing before you pack

Use the Tavi size charts to compare measurements and check each product’s fit details. A quick outfit check at home gives you time to change an uncomfortable waistband, slipping strap or length you do not like.

Compare leggings, tops and sports bras by the details listed for each item. There is no need to build an entirely new wardrobe just to fill a class bag.

Keep the sock decision separate from the packing list

Your studio sets its sock requirements. If grip socks are on its list, choose the size and coverage you prefer. Our grip-sock buying guide explains the choices without assuming that every class has the same dress code.

Pack for the journey as well as the class

Set aside a jacket or pullover if you want another layer afterwards. Leave a little space for anything you take off before class, and put your essential items back in the same place each time.

A useful class bag is one you can pack consistently. Start with the studio’s list and adjust it after your first visit.
